Here is a poem written by my creative partner Katherine Torrini with whom I’m collaborating with to create a sacred painting weekend for women. This poem will give you a feel for where we are going to go with 8 special women during a lovely long weekend of learning to paint in an iconic 13 step process and to tap out fear, art trauma and creative blocks.

I am a High Maintenance Woman

I require wings 
and soaring open sky
 to glide alone or 
barrel-roll with playmates 
who know how to fly.

I desire shawls & gowns,
 precious stones and
 illuminated crowns
–altars I can wear.

I require books,
 parchment, pen and ink
 and a remarkable amount 
of time alone to think.

I desire liquid rainbow sprays
 with which to paint my skies as well as a permanent subscription
to all the best art supplies.

I require fresh cut flowers
, crystals, scented oils
 and other alchemystic tools
 floating in my moonlit 
mermaid pools.

I need a nest
, somewhere soft & warm where I can rest 
(linen sheets are best.)

I require shielding
from the creep 
of darkness, dullness, ignorance & fear
–protection while I sleep.

I desire gentle mornings
 born in silent sacred space
– sweet time to know my knowing
, sensuously unfurling dayward, at my pace.

I require bread & butter, 
cheeses, chocolate, tea–all lovingly infused 
with mystic poetry.

I desire oceans, forests, 
mossy streams & flowering vines along with access to
 communication lines.

I require portals through the veil
 to drop away in timelessness as my whims decree
–with devoted temple keepers to tend the hearth and 
lay out hot soup for me.

I desire lovers
 whose joy it is 
to bring me pleasure dancing symphonies on my skin 
in hours of erotic leisure

In short, I must be fed
 with beauty bright and pure unadulterated love morning, noon and night.

So…..Who am I to require 
& desire so brazenly,
so much?

Who indeed! I am 
none other than your 
muse– waiting 
(impatiently!) to be freed!
